A Violin Performance by Divine Force

A Violin Performance by Divine Force

Back in the 1980s, our Matgiao (Secret Teachings) team, consisting of five members, embarked on road trips in our van, journeying from Colorado to various states across the US to spread the teachings of the Dharma. On one particular day, departing from Chicago, we headed to Canada and arrived at the religious house of a member of the Vovi sect.

During our conversation with the Vovi group about the Holy Force, which can impart various martial arts, dances, or forms of yoga to practitioners, a man challenged us to prove the existence of this Force through a violin performance. He expressed that if we could demonstrate the Force in this manner, he would be willing to undergo initiation.

Bich, the sole female member of our group, found herself facing this challenge, despite never having touched a violin, let alone played one. One of our members, CMD, received a vision and a positive message from the Spirit Guardian, encouraging Bich to proceed with the performance, as the Spirits had promised to assist her. With uncertainty lingering, Bich stepped forward to accept the challenge.

The host’s family presented a violin, prompting Bich to seek guidance from the host on how to hold the instrument and the bow. As he assisted her, he quickly realized her complete lack of familiarity with the violin. Nevertheless, with the Force guiding her, Bich began to produce beautiful sounds from the violin, much to the astonishment of everyone present. The host and his family watched in wide-eyed amazement, their jaws dropped, until the music came to an end. Overwhelmed with belief, the host fervently exclaimed, “I believe, I believe…”

Being skilled at the violin himself, the host understood better than anyone else the difficulty of mastering the instrument; without proper training, producing any sound, let alone pleasant tones, is nearly impossible. We too were filled with delight and silently expressed our gratitude for the timely support of the Spirits.

Following the performance, the host and his family requested and received the Initiation rites of Mat Giao.
