The Talking Kettle

Cynthia is the owner of a cosmetic salon for the upper class in Los Angeles. She is a Catholic but only comes to church to pray by herself when the church is empty of people. She is American in love with Asian culture. Her salon is decorated with Chinese paintings, Chinese characters, Buddha’s picture, and even a statue of Kwan Yin Boddhisattva.
When I initiated her, she was standing and I could see her body moved around, forward, then backward, to the right then to the left. She told me she experienced an energy starting from her head down to her shoulders and whole body. She felt very hot and she was sweating as if she was in a spa.
Afterward, she practiced the Five Set of Dharani and told me that she saw many colorful visions that are extraordinary beautiful appearing on the wall, in the tree foliage, in mid air… the images start small and become bigger and spread out to envelop the whole space. She said she recited the mantra while she was driving from her work back to her home that took her about an hour.
I found a kettle that was under my altar and having no use for it, I gave that to her as a gift. She used it to boil water. But after using it for a while she told me that something is strange about the kettle. Whenever the water boils she would hear the sound of someone reciting the Five Dharanis coming from the kettle. When I told her where the kettle came from, we both found this manifestation very interesting.
